I sort of was talked to about this in another thread, but I wanted to elaborate. Can I legitimately start my system (with no nutrients just balanced pH) Just plop the grodan block in their with a seed start my water pump and and go?
I've been trying to germinate my blocks in one of those closed off plastic things (seed nursery) and little sprouts come out, but it just looks like a nub, not like a root.. maybe it is a root? normally I dropped some seeds in soil and they would just magically appear, but I'm very new to hydroponics like I said before so sorry if my questions are dumb, I'm just really excited and want to know that I put money into something I can use.
Before the tap root comes out completely you see a little nub come out and then it shoots down, after that it starts to push the seed part up to bring the cotyledons above the surface to start the process of photosynthesis.
And yes, no nutrients to start. Is is nice and moist where the seed is? Is the root being exposed to light?
