I'm pretty sure the main reason this has come about is b/c of wikileaks and the potential hazard that is for government, and for preventing things happening here like they did in the middle eastern/islamic world for the arab spring. i.e. Egypt, Libya, et cetera. This occupy wall st. is a prime example of that and what they don't want happening more often. If you cut off the internet and the ability for people to come together in that fashion to start these types of things, you have effectively prevented it from happening... at least on the scale that we're seeing today.... not to mention the entertainment industry being robbed on a sec by sec basis w/ all the pirating going on! lol

Its really our last stronghold for free speech. You dont think they will do whatever
it takes to control the internet? In some places they now have "Free speech zones"
where people can only use these zones for protest.

I wrote and called my congressman. Apparently it didn't matter. Hopefully Obama will Veto this.

Actually if enough people get the word out it does make a difference. It's people with your type of attitude that end up not doing anything about these bills that allow them to get passed through. If this had gotten enough attention like the SOPA bill did, it wouldn't have passed. But alas Americans attention span is so short that the government will just end up doing what they want.

I wasn't middle classed when I first obtained the internet. I for one is PISSED that this shit is happening. I'm one of those people who understand that 25% of our brain is the interwebs. I, as a man, have went through puberty and maturity with the internet as a tool to achieve those statuses.
The problem about these bills is that they aren't publicized. Most of the middle classed are either working they're ass of or partying their ass off. IMO, it's up to US, as internetnauts, and minors, like shr00000ms, to put end to this bullshit censorship of the internet.
