Watering on vacation
    #610759 -

I may need to leave my plant for 6 days I'm trying to think of how I can keep it watered without someone's help. Does this sound like a good idea? What if I got a overly overly large dish that the pot sat in rather then the small water collection tray. Then filled that up with like a gallon for the plant to soak up thoughtout the week as well as a watering right before I left? Or would this drown the plant? Any ideas? Thanks

Do some research on a passive drip irrigation system.  Cheap and easy to build.

i have a friend who uses old wine bottles. he fills them up and then tips them upside down, pushing them into the dirt.  the dirt then absorbs the water as needed, thus feeding the plant.  if its a big plant i would recommend 2 bottles.

Thanks for the ideas guys. The wine bottle idea is clever my mom has something similar she bought at the store. Anyways for my situation I am going to go with the passive drip irrigation system. Still working out the details but I got some ideas I have been testing out. Anyways since I have never watered like this I was curious about how to go about timing it. I am going to be away for 4 and a half days, my plant is stretching right now in its second week of flowering so shes thirsty. Typically it holds just under a gallon of water when I feed her. Now If I do the drip feeding I am trying to get the drip timed to a gallon a day. So this is what I dont know. Should I give it about half a feeding right before I leave, then set it to drip 1.5-2 gallons over the next two days? At first I was going to give it a full feeding right before I leave. But if I do that then set the drip feeding to begin Im worried that it could possibly water it faster then she drinks in which case my spill dish would overflow. So any suggestions on how to handle this part? Thanks
