The Hunter is amazing. I don't think anything can top Crack the Skye though.

Both are masterpieces of early 21st century heavy metal. But I must say The Hunter is their best thus far. I really don't see how they can do much better than this. And the videos are just so fuckin trippy man. Last time I watched videos that weird they were by Tool. Neither band in my opinion is making promotional footage to sell records, both are creating art.
Think you and I are going to get along well sir.

My favorite song by them is Aqua Dementia.

Blood and Thunder isn't your favorite off that album?
I'd have to say my favorite is Colony of Birchmen.

No but I do love that song. I have holes punched in my ceiling from the "harpoons thrust in the sky" part after way too much liquor I actually hit a stud in the ceiling and popped the breaker for the whole upstairs of my house lol. That was an awesome night.

I couldn't name a favorite. It's all mind-blowing, apart from Call of the Mastodon. I wasn't a huge fan of that album. From Remission on though is just amazing.

Yeah I heard they composed the score to Jonah Hex. Saw that movie but I think I was snoring to loud to pay much attention to the soundtrack.

It's not bad I guess, I only really like a few songs off it though: Octopus Has No Friends, Dry Bone Valley, Thickening, Creature Lives, Stargasm. Overall I find it doesn't feel like one strong concept, rather left over songs mixed with some new ones.
Crack the Skye was boring, the songs didn't have that heavy feel that the older ones do, to me they lost their edge on that one. Blood Mountain is amazing, one of my favourite albums of all time. Leviathan is good but doesn't flow for me as well as Blood Mountain. Remission has some awesome tracks.
But yeah, has some awesome tracks, Octopus Has No Friends is one of my favourite Mastodon songs.

Just found out they are playing a show with Gojira in Feb, only $50, so definitely going! I saw them earlier this year or last year, it was pretty good but they played Crack the Skye in its entirety, 1 song off Blood Mountain and a couple of older ones. It was awesome but I would of preferred if they played more songs from different albums.
