 mp3 stereo systems

Old stereo is crapping out and want to upgrade to one of the new mp3 systems and maybe something I can play cds too. I dont know much but I was wondering if there was a way to kill 2 birds with one stone by getting studio monitors for my computer and hooking it all into the same system. So basically what I'm looking for is a something I can connect a laptop or mp3 player for music with some respectable bass and a way to watch movies with good loud audio.

any sound system with an auxiliary (AUX) port can be hooked up to a PC or laptop

That doesn't really help me. Just want to know what people are using to listen to mp3s nowadays........ maybe I should have called the thread: What kind of stereo do you have?

Ok this was a much better idea than I expected.......... DAMN this thing is much louder than my stereo and way better bass and treble. My Carvin bass amp just found one more use.

My Klipsch Promedia 2.1 system was fucking awesome.
It blew a fuse one day, and I bought a pack of fuses for it and now they just explode when I put them in  It might be the wrong fuses, but I'm thinking it might just be fried.
I really miss shaking my house with bass. I'm kinda in the market for something new myself, and in your same price range...so this is relevant to my interests.

The only problem is playing vinyl records now, I guess I need a way to power the signal between the record player and the bass amp according to my dad. It plays but sounds really low, any advice welcome folks.
