Who has a laser pointer? 
I love those things, I'm a bit of a geek. 
They are really fun to play with in a hotbox while stoned.
Right now I just have a standard USA regulation class cheap red beam III 5mw 680nm laser pointer. I'm thinking about buying one of the expensive green or other colored ones that are great for burning things and really seeing the laser beams. Great distance, visibility, power, and all that jazz.

Simple broken piece of CD on a PC fan (that I was using for ventilation LOL!) and bong smoke blown into the camera to make the effect. So cheap to make something so cool.
I think I paid about $50 for both. The greenie I have a nice source for that will ship directly to the USA (afaik they still do) and the purple I had to route through Canada. Took like 4 months to get it, but it was so worth it.
I ended up painting like a quarter of my ceiling in glow paint. I can probably write "FRACTAL" in it in a video if I can find someone to hold the camera in my house lol.

OH btw if you want to see the beam and impress people from distances, the green is the way to go. The purple is super impressive and had a nice beam, but it tends to get lost because the human eye can't really pick up the wavelength of the color. Its right on the edge of what people can see.
In the daytime, it actually leaves a yellow tracer behind it because your eye is struggling to see it. The dot made by it almost looks "fuzzy".
Edit: Thank you so much for posting this thread, it motivated me to find my lasers. I found them both. My green is a 100mw 532nm and my purple is a 100mw 405nm.
Upon closer inspection, one would think that the purple is maybe a quarter the power of my green one, but they are the same power. Its just because the eye tricks ya.

In the US if you shine it on a cop its grounds for getting shot in the face.
I guess they can't tell if its on a gun or something 
I love taking it to the mall and fucking with people. Especially the purple one, because nobody has really seen those.

Lazers arent expensive at all anymore
I used to sell em to my raver friends for 30 each and I would pick em up for like 5 to 7
this was for green and purple ones, all the same price
came with nifty little kaleidoscopes too

I've never had any less than 50mw so I'm not sure how visible the beams of 5mw lasers are.

5mw is rather visible. It definitely goes about 3/4 mile or more. You can see the beams pretty good too.
My green is 100mw or something and goes very far, at least 3 miles.

Get astronomy lasers, they're designed to be seen by the naked eye and travel long distances.
For the record for everyone in this thread, if you say 680nm then you don't need to say red beam. 680nm is the wavelength, which is red.

Yeah but for newbies who aren't familiar with the numbers its easy to say the color too 
That, and there are shades of some colors. I think theres multiple violet lasers available. Ones significantly more rare and expensive though.
I just tried to make a second time tunnel video with my green and purples. My cellphone camera fails hard at recording effects in the dark.
I have the end caps from the really cheap red lasers and I beamed a huge green UFO onto the steeple of a church in a city I was in. I really hope it got someones attention  . I have a money bag too, but its not really clear what it is. I'da totally done that one.

exactly. 650nm will be a different shade of red than 680. I think that makes far more sense to explain than "uhh, it's a slightly darker shade of light red than a fiji apple but a little lighter shade of dark red than a fire truck."
