How often does this happen?....

Perhaps this is smoke lounge material, but I figured it would get more views from growers in here.
I've heard stories from a few people telling me they have had plants that will ooze out resin. I've always thought they were just talking about a shit load of glistening trichome, but check out this picture. There is clearly some resin/sap looking stuff distinct from the trichomes, just curious how often that happens and I'm assuming it contains active cannabinoids, is this correct?
The strain is "Ghost Train Haze"...

I was reading a strain review, people said a few of the buds had these globs of goopy resin oozing out of the tops of em' .
And I have heard from a couple growers that they have had plants that literally ooze out and even drip resin off the flowers. Initially I thought they were full of shit, but after seeing this maybe it does happen every once in a while .....Curious if it's just something in the genetics or what.

I believe it's a genetics trait found some what commonly in strains that are pest resistant, such as venus fly trap to name one.

I'm not saying it can't happen but I think from the pics here that it is more likely some kind of sap from another plant or something similar to that. The reason I say that is that the drops are on top of the existing resin glands and not coming up threw them. Then in order for them to have the thc that we all crave they would have to be some kind of over-sized trichome rather then a sap from inside the plant which doesn't have what we are looking for in it.
Buuuuuuuuuut then again I may be wrong.
