I just painted up the last of my garage and I feel like I can feel the extent of damage the paint did to my brain now that I'm inside 
better  so I can forget about it.

Hopefully not too bad. All I do is open cans of those and tint them at work, having to look closely at them when colour matching and making a mess of them with my hands and stuff. I'm not really in a low ventilation room painting with it 
 errything will be fine

Latex or oil based?
If it was latex you will be fine, I have painted for hundreds of hours with it.
Oil, IDK... think your supposed to wear respiration.

I'd wear respiration either way if I were you, carelessness with that type of thing isn't really worth the short-term comfort of not wearing the mask.
