But i was wondering, would it be possible to grow one or two plants in medium sized closet? i know i'd have enough room for a light, and pot, and big plant.
I live with my parents right now, and they said they'd be cool with it.
I'm worried about the smell though, would it get out into the rest of the house?

yes, buy a carbon filter and fan and tape of the return air grill in your room so the ac\heater will not pull the air back to the ac\heater, if your parents have central ac., remember buds smell more than growing plants espically when drying.

I've got a couple of CFL's that i use for mushrooms grows, could i use those for a a plant?

Honestly, I was thinking of writing a guide for the absolute noob. Like, the 100% bare minimum required to get a respectable harvest.
I use 150w of CFL to veg under, and thats more than enough for one plant. Its 6 26 watt CFLs. I flowered under them once, and it did the job.
As for the smell, it really depends on the strain. I really suggest growing some Northern Lights. They are known for having low odor.
I don't have a carbon scrubber. I just hang up blankets in the door way. One on each side. A thick one and a sheet. It works stupidly well

Nah, with just a couple of plants you should be fine.
(unless your growing some kind of old school roadkill skunk that would reak up the house.  )

I have a 2'x6' Closet that i can grow 3 plants in comfortably. All to about 3'-4' tall each yeilding anywhere from 1-3 ozs. I am running hps for flower with and extensive exhauset system. But with a few CFLS and some inventive engenuity you should beable to come up with a system that will Satisfy your needs.
I also have a Plastic tool cabinet bought at walmart that I have fitted with with 5 42w CFLS for veg. I can vegitate 1 plant to 2' tall or 3 to about 6inches tall. There is a write up on both in the enclosure forums.
