Outdoor All Indica In Soil
    #573916 - 07/22/11 01:44 PM (12 years, 8 months ago)

Hello everyone.
I have been traipsing around the Shroomery for several years now.
Thought I would come check you guys out.
Kind of weird over there sometimes.

Anyway, i am 50 years old and have not grown since I was a kid.
Never did much then, just playing around.

I am a 215 patient in Cali.
Bad neck, and no job.

I've got three Purple Kush teens an one Black Berry teen. These have been out about three days now.

I've also got a couple of smaller ones, another Purple Kush and a Grand Daddy Purple. These two were very small and have been out about two weeks.

Hopefully you guys can help me not screw this up.

I have VERY hard water here. So any suggestions in that area would be appreciated as well.

OK,

So I got shunned for not putting together a comprehensive grow log post.
I can accept that.

So, here goes.

Outdoor in Happy Frog Soil
Using peruvian seabird guano @ 1 tsp/gal
Light training- just opening them up a bit.
Had hard water, very alkaline. Been using PH up to correct.

First two plants out were babies put out on 7/6/11
After about two weeks of watering with the well water they started to get light green and a little yellow.

After a few waterings with PH adjusted they got better.

Have fed them once with the guano. Will prob feed again in a couple days.

All are starting to show pre-flowers.

Ok, so it's been it pretty good 7 days for these babies.
The Blackberry is filling in nicely. And so is the smaller Purple Kush. That one's gonna be a bush, very thick.
The bigger PKs are not looking bad either.

They've all had two feedings of Peruvian seabird guano @ 1 rounded teaspoon/gal. Fed right at the base, about a pint per plant, and then a little plain PH adjusted water.

I can see some of the results of the hard water showing in the dried soil. Will wait and see how bad it gets.

I have just switched to using my hard water for my second attempt instead of buying water like I was. I wish I could afford an RO system but oh well. Even though I need to do more research myself on hard water I let is sit out like people do with city water so maybe bad stuff will evaporate?? I am interested to see what others will say as I'm in a similar boat

 hope you have some huge bushes soon

P.S. - if you have a softener I have heard that the water can be used if you use potassium chloride instead of sodium chloride to soften the water?? anyone else have input on that

Having Hard water means you have metals in your water, boiling and evaporation is not effective in removing these ions from water.

To treat Chlorine or Chloramine then you can use Campenden tablets (potassium metabisulfite).

If there are organic substances in the water you, then activated charcoal filter will do but it doesn't remove metals.

To remove metals one needs to use an ion exchange (water softener).

    #577742 - 08/11/11 02:20 PM (12 years, 7 months ago)

One more week and a day has passed. They still seem happy.
All are opening up nicely it seems.

But surprise, surprise the Grand Daddy Purple has started to flower.
I believe she started about the 5th.
But... I only noticed it after nannybooboo asked for flower pics.
So, please, nannybooboo don't ask for any flower pics of the other girls. I want them to veg for a few more weeks if possible.

Here they are..

Blackberry

PK1

PK2

PK3

PK4

Grand Daddy

And for nannybooboo

Sexy

And Group Shot

Now I want to keep this organic. And simple as in one or two products at the most.
I have done some searching and have decided on Fox Farm Big Bloom and Molasses.
Will this be enough?
I am open to suggestions...

Oh and this is an indoor version of the same genetics as the three bigger Purple Kush.

And some Snow White for fun.

For at least two weeks please sir.

I've been hauling three of them in the garage at night and keeping them lit for about an hour and a half to try to let them veg for just a little longer anyway.

Might not work, but I have one of the sisters outside as a control and we will see if it makes any diff.

Oh,  Also found spider mites. Very early though, so no damage to speak of. I washed them with soap water and rinsed. They seemed to like it.

I live in the Central Valley SeeAyy so its all agriculture. Almonds peaches grapes you name it. That means lots of spider mites in the summer. Hopefully I can keep them at bay with a wash once a week.

Hopefully this will happen :growingweed:

i know ive said this in other thread but PREDATORY MITES. they are bad fucking ass and do an awesome job. plus you wont have to keep washing down your plants with soapy water. They are cheap too and if there is that much farming in your area you should be able to grab them locally. they will literally eat all your spider mites and then cannibalize each other.

other then that

OK, so one more week and a day again.
Mites still here in small numbers. Gonna try some Neem this weekend.
Soap working but stressful, I think. And the damn wind just brings new ones.
All have started to flower except for the blackberry. Though she may be starting.
Here's one of the PKs

Nuther PK

Another PK

The little PK

Blackberry

The Grand daddy

The Grand daddy has lots of budsites

So do the PKs

They all have tons of apical growth.
I LSTed them all then released them. The really busted out wide and low.
I am feeding them a tea from Peruvian seabird guano and molasses @ 1tbl guano and 1tbl molasses / gal.
Wish me luck with the mites please.

This is the molasses I am using
Organic Blackstrap

720 mg potassium per tbl

Oh, and thanks for the five nannybooboo.
I can't even type that name without laughing!

just a clarification here--ion exchange is just that, an exchange of metal ions, one for another, changes the water from hard to soft--it doesn't reduce the load--water softeners don't remove-the tds should remain the same in softener systems-you're getting rid of calcium and replacing it with sodium (usually). only RO systems actually remove the ions from the water you use.
any time you use tap water you are already starting with a certain amount of TDS, which increases when you add the nutes. if you have a high TDS tap water like I do here, you can be running double the recommended TDS for a given plant, like a clone or seedling, in effect making the water toxic at the outset.

Wait....You're using Ph UP To correct your very alkaline water?! I'm assuming that was a typo? But yeah, I would either get a good RO system or at least find one at a store. Some pet supply places have them as well as big name grocery stores where you go in and fill your jugs for pretty cheap. I buy my water right now because I cannot hook up a filter where Im at. It cost .29 cents a gallon so it's not all that bad

Ok one more week has passed.
Did not get any Neem as I figured they were under control and the weather should break in a couple weeks anyway (hopefully).
Have sprayed once more with soap and am spraying down in the middle of the day with plain (not the well) water. Also spraying them at night and leaving them on the wet grass to increase humidity. All these things will make the little bastards uncomfortable at least.

Al are visibly into flowering now.
I stopped trying to keep the PKs numbers straight cause it doesn't matter anyway.

Oh, and yes that was a typo on the Ph-up It's a certain kind of dyslexia.
It's why I had to quit drinking.

Nah, not even close! If that's actually a full indica like you claim then you've got maybe 4-5 weeks left on it.
