Legalization of Marijuana will never happen... * 1

Back in 1971 when i was a freshman in high school we all had to file into the gymnasium.
Anyway this dude got up there and started preaching why marijuana would never be legalised.

Needless to say 40 years later marijuana is still illegal:stonedjerk:

It wont ever be legaised because it would put to many lawyers, judges and law enforcement officers out of business.

Well I mean they still have to fight the other drugs, the war on drugs may never end but the war on marijuana I think is coming to a close. You might be dead by then but most of us will get to see it.

I disagree. There's been a great change in attitudes in the past 20 or so years. I think we'll all see the day when we can go to the store and buy us some good weed legally, like we can now with beer and cigs. :bigweed:

It will happen but we still have a ways to go. We still have to change the minds of most the public then worry about changing the minds of government. We had the chance for it to be legal in Cali and it was voted down by the people. :happyweed:

exactly. it wont be legalized in Paw's lifetime, but the rest of us (unless I figure out how to kill myself properly) will likely live to see it at least decriminalized.

Barney Frank and Ron Paul just proposed some legislation in the past week to make it a state right and keep the federal government out of it. It actually has a decent chance of passing.

Yeah, we sometimes forget that marijuana hasn't even been illegal for all that long.  I'm sure there's some people who thought slavery was permanent too.

i read an article the other day that had a prediction that there would be prescription mdma available in about 10 years.  i do wonder.  maybe cannabis can ride along with this new psychedelic revolution that's taking place.  it's already come a long way in regards to the acknowledgment by a lot of mainstream figures that it has therapeutic and medicinal uses.  That recognition by the FDA alone will take it off schedule one.  :shrug:

The simple fact that anyone can grow cannabis is the main deterrent from it becoming legal IMO

MDMA isn't readily made in someones home, and can be produced/controlled more easily by the pharmaceutical companies

i dont think it will be out-right legal too soon, but there has been major progress made on cannabis law reform in the last decade so i think legalisation is inevitable, at least in a few countries

it would be good to see the rest of europe adopt the spanish law on cannabis.
