kappa-opioid receptors are responsible for the feeling of dysphoria. At high concentrations ketamine will bind to mu-opioid receptors which accounts for the opiate like effects. However, agonization of the kappa-opioid receptors negates the activity of the mu-opioid signal transduction pathways.

Edit: On topic, I've tried K once since this was posted. I liked it a lot, but I didn't have enough to really get me anywhere. Been on the lookout since but I got weird looks when I casually brought it up at the bar I get my drugs at. IDK why this shit is so elusive and unheard of in my area.
