having smoked hash for many years, here is my fave in order
nepalese temple ball
nepalese gold
nepalese black (10% opium)
moroccan gold
moroccan black
turkish silver
turkish black
afghani gold
afghani black
charas (afghani black with opium)
Lebanese blonde
The best way to smoke hash i've found is the turkish traditional way, a charcoal disc in the bottom of a wooden pipe, place the hash on top of the disc, it begins to melt into it, smoke, stir stir stir, always stir, every hit, mmmmmm...
now that it's mostly impossible to get these strains from yesteryear, i make my own bubble from himaylayan kush, it has a very close resemblence to nepalese temple ball, which is the best hashish on the planet.

not impossible, but harder than you think. opium is targeted too because it 'supports terroism'. also much easier to import heroin which sells for much more, so doesn't make any damn sense to risk it with opium.
i know of one source online that does sell opium and will ship to the US but takes no responsibility if you get caught and i know of one guy who did receive though. so yes, possible.
however, most stuff you would buy as opium locally in the United States will be fake (aka incense).
