Colorado Rep. Jared Polis has made headlines lately for his support of marijuana-law reform. He delivered the keynote speech at the NORML Conference in Denver on Saturday.
"What a bizarre policy this prohibition is," Polis told the rapt lunchtime crowd. "Prohibition has never stopped anyone from smoking marijuana. It's time we end this failed policy of prohibition. I support full legalization (of marijuana). I'm optimistic, but it's not a given. This could go either way. Now is the time to double and triple our efforts on the advocacy front."
Polis plans to sponsor a legalization bill in this session of Congress.
