Hillbilly internet,
    #511059 -

I moved from the city to the sticks and to tell you the truth I'm not too happy about it. City folks seem to have much better internet. The hillbillys probably have it a little faster/about the same, but its always disconnecting me and shit.

Nothing ever good has come from the country:

rednecks ftw

Anyone who prefers the city to the country hasn't lived in the country.

Fuck modern convenience, it's made us a bunch of ungrateful lazy slobs.

Sounds like a good plan man. I had a fishing season about 3 times better than expected, still grinding it out day to day, but I'd rather be cold fishing than sitting in an office fucking bored out of my mind.

There are pros and cons to any living situation.

I've lived in rural areas, small towns, and a big city. At this point in my life, I much prefer a large city, but when I'm retirement age a nice place in the country will be just fine. Keep in mind I agree with you guys that most cities suck and I would never live in them (examples include Oklahoma City, Detroit etc)

2) Entertainment and Culture. Shit actually happens in cities. I would be bored out of my fucking mind in the country staring at the sky all day. Rural areas have very limited homogeneous cultures.
3) Economic opportunities - This is a big one for me.
4) Social. Hot women are in every direction.  I'm in a very young city where most people are less than 30 years old, so its cool. lots of parties and good bars for mingling
5) Transportation. Most places I go to are close enough to ride my bike or walk, I don't have to depend on a car just to go somewhere like in the country.

Don't get me wrong I love nature and go camping all the time etc, but theres no fucking way I would be in the country in my 20s, what a drag.

Yeah, out in the middle of nowhere.
I still think you can lead a rural life and still be social and do stuff. It might not be the most happening of places but not everyone is into that scene anyway.

Yep. I prefer a rural bar or local house party to a building filled with "bro's"

Living in rural areas in the US these days isn't any harder than living in a city. So I don't see your point about how living in cities makes people lazy or ungrateful. It's not like everyone in the country is a hard-working farmer, most of them sit on their ass just as much as cityfolk. And rural America takes advantage of modern conveniences just as much as anyone else.

Personally, I'm very grateful for farmers and their work, and it's a shame at how fucked over that entire population is, except if you grow corn.

I think I got it pretty good. I grew up in the country with a Mango farm on one side and a Hay farm on the other, with a swamp somewhere in the middle of all our properties. Both my neighbors had kids the same age as me so we were always on motorbikes doing stupid shit, out in the swamps fishing or doing whatever, and then when I turned about 12-13 we moved into the city and I started doing more outside of the confines of my own property.

I have a few friends that live way out in the sticks, with their houses pretty much cut into a hill with a forest as their backyard, I try to hang out there as much as I can because I love nothing more than sitting on a balcony smoking some weed with a coffee/tea when its cold as fuck looking out at unspoiled Australia at its finest, listening to the sweet sound of rural silence. But it would kill me if it took >1hour to get everywhere, I'll move back out there when I'm old and don't have much to do other than grow and smoke.
