I used to think that moderation was key, but now I agree that a heavy 1st dose is best - IF the person has done a little homework.
I have heard Leary and McKenna both say, in very direct terms, that under 5g of cubes was inappropriate. Actually, I think McKenna said low doses were what he considered drug abuse.
After watching dozens of newbs do their first trip, I have only seen people with issues have a bad trip. That goes for low or high doeses. The ones who took the bigger doses just tended to be more impressed and have wilder stories.

I don't think it would be appropriate for users new to psychedelics to take large amounts for their first go. As with any drug one should first test several doses to determine active threshold and individual sensitivity.

That isnt a high dose, that is a retarded dose. I have never heard of anyone eating more than an ounce
And those people generally have no idea about mushrooms anyways and just want to "get fucked up"
3.5-5 grams is plenty for good mushies

This was my third trip, and by far the best.
I was blown away.
In you're guys experience is 5gs a lot more impressive than 3.5gs?

Good to hear you had a good time. My sweet spot is about 5 grams but potency varies soo drastically that it really doesnt mean much.

Telling a first time tripper to take 3.5 dry ounces is probably the dumbest thing I've ever read.
Fractal if you wanna trip lightly 1.7 will do, trip a nice visual, but not too much then 3.0-3.5 and if you wanna trip hard then 7 if you wanna TRIP BALLS then 10.
