overall I'm not entirely happy with this but I don't know what to do with it...
I did however learn to make sweet rust/patina effects

So I finally downloaded a font and got it unzipped but I couldn't get it in the right file folder, I am convinced that a file folder doesn't exist or work right because I downloaded my photoshop illegally. It was 4 in the morning so I quit.

it's not a photoshop folder it's your computers font folder
newer versions of windows you should be able to right click on the font and select install
or you should be able to find your font folder probably c:/windows/font

can you use the font on any other program?
word, paint, anything?
*You also can't extract it directly into the font folder
I usually just place it on my desktop then drop it into the font folder
