outdoor bagseed grow
    #472086 - 09/04/10 12:38 PM (13 years, 6 months ago)

I wasn't going to record the progress of this grow, but I'm really starting to like where it's headed..
Okay, in the last week of March I germinated 1 seed from a bag of some pretty fine middies. I put the seed in a wet paper towel, and wrapped it around the inside of a glass which I kept half full of water. When it started showing a small green finger, I planted it in some regular old potting soil my wife was using for tomatoes.
It came up as a pretty stout seedling, very healthy with a thick stem and good leaves. After the fourth branching, I transplanted it to a 4 gallon bucket thinking that was going to be it's permanent home. I used the FIM technique, and *Fuck I Missed* the FIM. I went to pinch the apimerical stem, and accidentally got both of the side shoots that would have become the two main stems. :homerdoh3:
Two weeks went by and nothing happened..the two leaves on top got huge, and the stem swelled very thick, but absolutely no new growth. I thought it was a lost cause, and left it alone for two weeks while I went on my honeymoon. When I came back it had grown two huge stalks out of one side of the stem.
Of course I started feeding it right away with a 12-6-4 fert.. The two big leaves were bug eaten and about dead, and blocking light from the new growth so I trimmed them off..there was also an aphid problem, which I fixed using tobacco and water. At this point the plant just exploded, drinking lots of water, and getting fed every two weeks.
Pics from July 28th- 15 weeks from seedling..

I also took two cuttings from the lower branches that were skinnyand straggly, thinking I could clone them and at least get another bud or two outta them.
Pics from Aug 12- 17 weeks

17 weeks - Started worrying about it becoming rootbound and transplanted it into the ground, using Farmer's Gold organic ph neutral potting soil. Also sex became 100%.. she's a she! :woot:

18 weeks - See the first signs of flower, fat calyxes inside the new growth instead of leaves.. we'll call this the first day of flowering, Aug 20th. Tried to get a close up, but my camera kinda sucks for close ups.. Started feeding with 5-10-10(3 tspn/gal)and triple phosphate 0-43-0(1tspn/gal) I think that transplanting it into the ground, coupled with a temperature drop at night(51-55low) caused it to purple. I also tied down about 8 side branches so as to expose the budsites on the lower spots to more sunlight. These are pics from Aug 27th, 1 week into flower..

And here are pics from today Sept 4(day 16 of flower)

Oh yeah, remember those two cuttings from the stragglers? Here they are today. They seem to be about 10-11 days behind the mama..

Thanks to a lot of help from Mother Nature and the knowledgeable folks here, I'm lookin at a pretty decent one plant harvest I think.. Thanks Growery! :dancer:
I will keep up this log, since I have learned so much from other peoples..

Any idea which this plant is, Indica or Sativa dom?
I'm wondering if she'll have time to finish,(if she's a sativa)as she's only about 2 1/2 weeks into flower, and first frost here is around halloween..

Day 24 of flowering- I've switched to feeding every 5 days, she can't seem to get enough! No signs of even mild nute burn, so I'm upping the mixture a bit, plus adding blackstrap molasses. mmmmmmm
She's filling out nicely..

One of the two main colas..

One of the side branch colas..

Very nice plant.  Looks like some sort of hybrid to me.

(and sorry about the lack of enthusiasm around here.  You have a very nice log indeed.)

Thanks SmOak.. You've been giving me tips since I got here, and I appreciate it.

Day 30- I can see the calyxes stacking and swelling. Hairs are starting to change color.

Tying down the side branches was a good idea. I should get at least a few extra grams from each branch.

Been feeding her every five days, 4-5 tblsp per gal 5-10-10, 3 tspn per gal of 0-45-0 triple phosphate. No sign of nute burn, so I'll continue this for the next few weeks until it's time to flush..
She's really bulking up...

Day 37.. Come home from a four day stay at the hosp.(gall bladder)
Went to have a peek, and she was gone.. acouple of raggedy stems sticking up outta the ground, and a few small buds the bastards dropped..
They didn't see my clones though, so I should get 5-6 grams off them

                        fuck

Damn man, sorry to hear that, do you think it was a deer? I had 27 plants up and vanish but the ones with homemade tomato cages around them staked into the ground with bloodmeal deer repelents hanging from the trees around them were never touched.

Nah, I don't think a deer could have cut the strings I had tying down the side branches.. I think it was the satellite guy, who saw it from the roof.. I had a feeling, and should have gone with my gut and taken her down a few weeks early. I would have at least 3-4 oz of preemy but still potent bud..:mad2:

This is one of the straggly little branches I cut off preflower and cloned to actually get something off of it( my first cloning attempt).
