To be honest, i'm very new to growing cannabis. I've grown trees and studied soil maintenance for a while though.
Despite that, i've got to admit that with all that i know, my first weed grow this year was a complete failure. I decided to try out cover crops with my first grow, and i suspect they may have been the issue, hindering the water uptake of my plants.
Either way i was just kidding about the potassium issue. However, i do think that these 'coloured' variety of cannabis plants suffer nutrient problems. The fact of the matter is, they do look wicked cool, and i think that's what's encouraged their cultivation. I think they are malnourished plants with genetics that restrict certain nutrients.
I have never grown them or experienced them though, so this is all a matter of opinion based off previous knowledge.

nah man, i think it's just genetics, i don't think that they have nutrient deffiencancies or the bud wouldn't turn out as good as good genetics will.

Well that's not necessarily true. What if a certain nutrient deficiency stops a plant from building onto a certain part of the plant, and forces it to put more energy into a different part such as THC production.
For example, when a fruit tree is in it's vegetative stage, one can give it a acidic foliar spray to shock the plant and induce it to go to flowering early.
