I've never hunted with one but I love to hear the twang of the bowstring.

My dad just gave me his compound bow and I'm really looking forward to shooting it when the weather cools down.
But I'm a bit concerned, it's got like an 80lbs pull and the string has got to be ~10 years old.
And I don't know how to restring it... Do you think I should be concerned about it snapping?

I have one that is older than that and if the string is not fraying then it is not something to worry about, but if it does concern you the string are not that expensive. You can probably find the instructions for restringing on-line for almost any bow.

Any good pro shop can restring your bow and possibly cut down teh draw weight also depending on the bow. I shoot a mathews mission bow very fun and accurate . Nothing like climbing in teh trees at 530 am and waitin on sunrise .. Luckily here in N.C this year they have opened deer season to open season on does you can shoot all you want no limit. Also they have opened bow hunting on sundays finaly.

Ive got 150 acres of land ate up with the bastards just waitin on season to open

When I moved to MN from Iowa, I could not believe the deer population here. It is insane how over populated they are up here. You drive down the highways early morning and see 40 or more head in a field easily. Best time is right at dusk you see just how insane it is, body shops make a mint up here during deer season lol.

You live in Iowa you say????
