Hash from most places in cali wont work with the cup method because it's full melt or atleast soft bubble. I wasted a good bit trying when first smoking hash, press hash will usually burn just fine with the cup method though.
When I smoke press I just load a fat bowl with a good screen in a icy bong...... I'm not talking some little pinch, I load a hash BOWL. If you don't smoke press like this your are missing out on the better high and taste as I see it.
With bubble hash I load it on top of a bowl with ash from the last bowl I smoked if I have no screen, or I smother a small amount of bud.

When I smoke hash in a bowl I tend to only pack one or two good hits at a time. Since it stays lit I don't want it to just sit there burning while I'm not hitting it. Loading a massive bowl of hash and letting the cherry burn seems like a waste to me.

You guys are doing it wrong if you leave it lit, I just put my thumb over the bowl. Also if it's good hash like bubble or fullmelt it'll go out after a rip or two. Pressed hash that's dryish when loaded into a bowl correctly will burn nice and go out like a bowl of bud if you do it right. load the larger pebbles over the screen or bud then load crushed hash around it then toke as needed. A decent bowl of hash can last all day if you're not a heavy smoker. Smoking fat bowls of hash is not a waste, especially if your passing it with a friend.
