you mixed soil with your hydro res? 
dude if you're doing hydroponics just buy some hydro nutes. you're wasting time and money with your setup. Also, how is the food supposed to reach their roots before the roots are long enough to get to the bottom tupperware?

IMO you should use a 5 gallon bucket with a lid instead of the tupperware and get a net pot. Here is link to a tek.

No man honestly that's not how soil works, It's not just a giant pile of nutrients and rock particles. Quite frankly I doubt mixing the soil with the water did anything whatsoever to provide food for your plants

There are many to choose from.
I say go with Floranova or Pro Blend both seem to do great and are easy to use.
And yes a hydro store should have them both.

I think he means a big box retailer like wal mart or home depot. In which case, no, those places don't carry nutes tailored for hydro grows (although I'm sure you could get away with using a Schultz product for a little while).
