top fighters ( gsp , anderson silva , machida , emelianenko ) are very well mannered and never disrespect their opponents , they want to end the fight as quickly and as painless as possible :thumbup:

roman gladiators fought to the death ( had weapons and there was no rules ) not the same as MMA and you know it :huxleyfacepalm:

no not at all... if they fought with bare hands mma fighters would win easily.

for example this guy ( anderson silva ) has fought and beaten the best fighters from different parts of the globe.

he has beaten.... the best asian fighters
best american fighters
best european fighters
best brasilian fighters


roman gladiators relied on brute force and strength
mma fighters are much more smarter , techniqual and experienced in the fighting field.

you think the gladiators had never fought in their lives and then just randomly were thrown in the ring? No, they were highly trained martial artists too, and their fighting style was suited perfectly to the situation they were in. You think silva has ever had to fight with a real sword and shield? you think he would have the first fucking clue what to do if he was facing a highly trained killer with nothing but a spear?  I would bet you $1000 he'd be dead in under a minute. It's a completely different style of fighting. He fights the way he does specifically because he has NO fear of serious injury. It's not even comparable

Edit; I just wanted to summarize my point- gladiators didn't lose their cool, because that was their style of fighting. If silva was fighting for his life instead of just trying not to get cuddled really hard HE would be the one losing his cool

BRAZILIAN JIU JITSU , KARATE , JUDO , WRESLTING , BOXING , SUMO and many other shit ...

i dont but still mma fighters know waay too many different types of fighting styles like i mentioned in my previous post , they have the best coaches in the world training them and they do it with intelligence..

Give me a fucking break, show me where I said gladiators were MMA fighters.  I said they were Martial Artists, as in, "people who know how to fight."  NOWHERE did I say anything about them being MMA (which stands for mixed martial arts). there is a MAJOR difference, and of course I fucking know it's a new sport. Don't talk down to me, I've forgotten more in the past year than you've learned in your entire lifetime

Here's something to think about; the ONLY gladiators on the battlefield were the ones with a perfect record. if you lost ONCE, you were dead.

Now in the case of Anderson Silva, he lost his debut match to Luiz Azeredo. So there you have it, if Silva was alive 2000 years ago he would have died during his professional debut and wouldn't have even had the opportunity for a second fight.
