that's acceleration based on gravity. If you jump off a cliff the earth accelerates you downward at 9.8m/s^2, which converted to feet is 32/second^2 (9 meters is 32 feet). However, if you're not dividing by t^2 but instead are multiplying you divide the 32 in half and you're left with 16t^2 as the equivalent expression

its all gov funded pretty swank
