k dude really silica is silica is silica if its in perlite or sand its silica. look it k! like i said very good try man.  imagine having sand built in your normally flexable cell walls. some use it as i said liek horse tail to stop animals from eating it. anyway none starter as silica is not how the product works! peace

no there is no evidense all plants carry up 10%. some sure, most however no and if you understood what it was talking about we could talk. again none starter.

ok another thought experiement, paper, solvent acid > paper no huge amount of 10% silica in it. sure some shit in bark and what not but you would see pulp mills with huge pills of silica powder!!

Any plant that has silica in it's cellwalls are going to be harder for insects to eat. BTW Pears and Olives have already been used in examples with further explanation in this thread.

Since Silica is Silica and Perlite or Sand is silica should we all just be dumping perlite and sand into our hydroponic reservoirs? Plants need Potassium also, should that go into our reservoirs in it's raw state too? Maybe there's a bit more to this than you think.

You do realize that up to 10% also means less than 10%? Nothing fits into the category of up to 10%.

yup so does 0% dude to use silica it needs to be silica using a silicate does not mean silica. like saying a diamond is like morphine

That logic doesn't make even the slightest bit of sense. The silica isn't present in the form of chunks man, it's utilized atom by atom, I can't believe you seriously can't grasp that concept. pulp mills wouldn't remove the silica, the silica would remain in the tree tissues all the way to your notebook

He's dense as fuck.  I didn't want to say anything but over and over again you try to explain this process is occurring at a molecular level, and he is thinking like pieces of "silica" (we used to make molds out of this for aluminum castings at my old job. its like the finest white sand.) visible to the naked eye...

The link I specified listed different forms of silica found in soils which are plant accessible.

i know what happens as silica dissolves and enters plants and i am very aware you guys dont think i think that. but shit dissolves like potassium and enters plant same ass way. IT IS NOT USED IN CELL WALLS OF CANNABIS NOT EVEN THE FUCKEN PRODUCT THINKS IT IS IT USES COMPOUNDS WITH Si IN IT BUT THAT IS NO WAY SILICA OK?? SOME SILICA DOES DISSOLVES AND MAY ENTER PLANT BUT IT IS NOT USED BY MOST PLANTS THERE ARE HOWEVER SPECIAL CASES IN SOME PLANTS THAT DO PRECIPATATE AMORPOUS SILICA OR OPAL ???  TAKE WOOD DISSOLVE IN ACID SEE IF YOU FIND ANY SILICA OK YOU GUYS ARE DENSE AND DONT UNDERSTAND WHAT SILICA IS IF IT DOES NOT REPRECIPATATE IN THE PLANT AS A COMPOUND OR BACK AS SILICA IT IS NOT USED k?  really now

What do you think happens to silica when it enters a plant then?

Are you going to tell us one of these brilliant theories of yours such as the one where the sharp shards of silica rip apart the plant and the plant heals with scar tissue?

it enters as an ion and accumulates not as a solid and is not used by plant in any metobolic proccess as you have said. fuck

what you guys thinks it enters precipatates into some not hard peice of sand that wouldnt cause damage?? that was one of my points aswell doesnt make sense for a plant to fuck itself like that

Silicon (Si) is the second most abundant element in the earth’s crust and is also abundant in most soils (Marschner, 1995; Epstein, 1994; Datnoff et al., 1997).  It is readily taken up by plants and is often present in relatively high concentrations in plant tissues (Epstein, 1994).  Silicon concentrations in plant tissues sometimes even exceed the concentrations of Nitrogen and Potassium (Epstein, 1994).  Therefore, Si is often a major constituent of plant tissue, although it is not considered to be an essential nutrient for terrestrial plants in general (Epstein, 1994).  No other presumably non-essential element is present in such consistently high amounts in terrestrial plants (Epstein, 199

No other presumably non-essential element- Non essential element means it's not directly utilized by the plants metabolism. As fucking stated 50 million times in this thread we all for the most part (with the exception of you) agree that silicon is non mobile and accumulates in the plant tissues.

First of all calm down. Second of all please understand what you're saying when making these claims. Who cares if the products donate actual silica to the plant vs. just silicates? as long as the compounds they contain involve some sort of Si then they're pertinent to this conversation.

Not used by the metabolism as the sentence I quoted at the bottom of my last post states. It is however found in plant tissues which is also what we've been trying to establish through your thick head. Think of this as a law of botany.

Silicon can accumulate in plant tissues without being utilized by the metabolism.

PLEASE UNDERSTAND, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!

also states as the original argument that there is no need for silica boost because there is enough silica in the soil ok. doesnt do anything some theories, and some plants actually use it, but adding silica is a waste of time!! esp paying lots of money for it this has metamorphosed into something super gay.
