They should at least cover up the hole with styrofoam while they find a more permanent fix.

If I didn't have air-conditioning, I would probably be sitting in my car, engine and cooler on, and either reading or sleeping.
There's no way I could be indoors in this heat without AC.

A couple of rolls of duct tape would fix that right up.
