rootbound flower kill
    #300338 - 10/19/09 05:49 PM (7 years, 1 month ago)

i saw a video with 15 foot plants rooted into 5 gallon pales [you know.. the tall white ones] but ive read you need a gallon of root space for every foot of growth.. i dont know how this guy gets away with it, probably because it was hydroponic...

anyway.. i have 3 NL girls goin about 2.5 feet tall now inside of 2 gallon buckets from dunkin donuts [similar to 5gal white pale but smaller] and today is 3rd week into flowering, ALL the MANY MANY bud sites are about 1/4 of an inch in diameter.. the plants are sucking up water so that im watering every 2 days [when 1/4 inch of top soil is bone dry and 1/4 under that is barely moist]

will flowering come to a complete halt if it becomes rootbound? or could i just let it suck up water faster and faster but up the nute dose a little? ive never let my plants get this big before.. should i transplant? [using soil-verm 80/20]

silhouetted by the sea, circled by the circus sands,
with all memory and fate, driven deep beneath the waves,
let me forget about today, until tomorrow."~bob dylan

If they have been in flowering over 5 weeks leave em and they will be fine.

yea let em go, but as a rule of thumb give them as much room as you can if you want em real big.

well i guess to be more simple;

the plant will continue to bud and fatten even though the roots wont have anywhere to go and will be rootbound for half the flower cycle;
AS LONG AS there is plenty of water and nutrients.

right? wrong?

Well they are at the end of their life now. There isn't gonna be a ton of root growth but yeah there is some. You have to remember the vegitive growth stage is all about getting ready for budding above and below ground.
