Thats one thing i do miss about the mainland, is freshwater fishing! To sit on a bank of a lazy river, smoke a fatty and drown a line. Ocean fishing is a whole different ball game. Not as relaxed as fresh water, but the catches are way bigger.

Don't get me wrong, I love any fishing! I just liked the the quiet wilderness setting of being on a river or small lake.

Me too cuzz.
Hell I've been known to drift for miles looking new holes.
My average catch is around 12 to 20 lbs a piece.
But I caught my largest bluecat a few weeks ago weighing 48 lbs right at 40 inches long from land.
That was a great catch.

i bet it was, anything over 20 lbs is sheer enjoyment!
We never had blue's up north, we used to catch flathead or channel cats. average sizes were around 5-10 lbs. However, we used to get the spring and fall runs. Spring was steelhead and other trout. Then fall we had the salmon run.
I used to be into the bass and pike/musky fishing tho. Small and largemouth bass averaging 4- 5 lbs but agressive fighters. and the pike well they were long and skinny average was about 5 lbs and about 24-36" long.
I loved to sit out on one of my favorite local dams with a jitterbug or hula popper on a still evening and top water fish for both pike and bass. Nothing like watching your lure bubble across the top of the water and have something come up and grab it!
