how old is the stuff?? most likely its fiberglass .. not good to touch it with bare skin or breath it in. you can get a decent face mask at any hardware store or a lowes/home depot. wear a long sleeve t shirt gloves and duct tape the gloves to the sleeves. that shit will make your skin hella itchy and irritated. hope that helps.

ya if the house was built in the 80s almost always gonna be fiberglass. probably the kind that is blown in thtough a big hose ad it just sits on top of the ceiling at framework of the house. Have fun working with that stuff man. every time i hvae to work with it i almost always get at least a little on me somewhere.. if you do get some on you use duct tape as way to help pull the little glass fibers from your skin. and resist the temptation for a hot shower, bad idea. only cool/cold water on skin with it, at least that has always helped me.
