Ways To Collect Pollen
    #209452 -

I've tried putting a plastic bag over a male, then on a branch of a female. Two other females had seeds too. Not the best way. Pollen must of been on the outside of the bag or it got out of the bag.
I read that pollen can get everywhere.
I like the guy who used a paint brush to apply the pollen but he never said how he collected it.

As the tittle said. How do you ppl collect it?

ya know.:getstoned: i dunno. when i was crossing my fav strains i did it in a seperate concealed room with one male and a couple females, and that lead to hundreds of seeds of some new yum yum. sorry i couldnt help ya but i dont really see a point in collecting pollen if ya plan to make babies anyways.

Yes the SOMEDAY factor is definitely a valid argument. :strokebeard:  If you can collect a tangible amount of pollen in a container and save in your root cellar, then it would be much easier to crossbreed and backbreed your hybrid onto the parent plants without keeping live males around to spoil your other projects or use up valuable resources such as soil, light, or nutrients-- not to mention time which might be the most valuable resource any of us have ever had. :strokebeard:
Cross/back breeding is absolutely necessary to create a stable hybrid and so collecting the pollen would be a worthwhile endeavor.
Though I may understand this concept, I also have no fucking idea what the proper method would be for pollen collection.  I'd like to know too- for future reference.

good question KaptKid

So, in summation: The CIA, with a little help from the Nazis, accidentally helped invent hippies while they were trying to figure out how to brainwash communists.

Pour that on your granola and eat it, you zombie pinko bastards!"

I don't understand whats so hard lol. Cut off a branch with opening male flowers and shake it on a plate. Using a razor, credit card, etc scrape it up into a container that is air tight. Store in a cool, dry, dark place.

I've done this for numerous genus of plants. The pollen seems to be good at least 2 yrs IME. Not sure about the potency of MJ pollen over time though.

Use Q tips and rub them on males to get them saturated with pollen.  Put in bag.  Water might help pollen stick better, but I'm not sure if it would have any adverse effects on the pollen...I doubt it would though.

Well there you have it!  If you decide to use the Q tip method, don't use water.

I second the Q tips, they can subsequently be stored in test tubes for maximum life.
