I Saw 311 @ Dodger Stadium Parking lot when "Don't tread on me" came out a couple years ago... but i have been a fan since the Self titled album back in 95. If you want my opinion the self tittled is the essential album.

No, not at all. In fact, they had a b-side song called Fuck the KKK.
The name 311 has a story behind it. One night two of the guys from the band got trashed in their home town Omaha, Nebraska. They decided it would be a good idea to go skinny dipping in a public pool. Turned out to be not such a great idea when they were arrested for pubic indecency, which is police code 311 in Omaha. It was a big story with the band members so they decided to name the band 311.
311 preaches vibes of unity (hence their old album, Unity). They have nothing to do with the KKK and despise what the KKK stands for.
