best way to spend 9$ on groceries

alright, I got 9$, what kind of stuff should I try and get?

I have peanut butter already so I think a loaf of bread would be a good idea.

perhaps look for some discounted canned  foods? like thos 3 for 1$ beans I always seem to find

you can't be very picky with 9$... when I'm hurting for food I usually shop for those discounted steaks but even then they're a few bucks a pop.

I would be considering going hunting or fishing for food if I ran out of money and needed to eat for 6 days.

Cook the ramen noodle, add butter, thick salsa and a chicken breast or a porkchop and you have yourself a decent meal. :thumbup:

i lived off of 10.00 a week and this is how.

1 loaf of bread
10-15 ramen
2 packs of the cheapest hotdogs
eggs
2 packs bologna

you could also cancel out the bologna or eggs and get a couple of the .99 frozen pizza's or the 3/1.00 frozen burritos.

hope this helps. dont feel bad man, we have all been there or will be there one day.

White rice is cheap.  You can eat like 2-3 cups of that a day and it's cheaper than ramen.

my parents told me a funny story as a kid
they were poor and eating gas station hot dogs all summer long
then my mother left the AC on all nite by accident
and completely negated all the sacrifices they made

That is pretty much what I ended up doing
1 loaf of bread
2 packets of Turkey 2/4.00$
and 2 boxes of lo mein 1.00$ each

I think I will continue to be a smart shopper even once I have money. I have really learned out to stretch my bucks out

same here. awhile back when i was making good money both my chick and i made a budget for our random spending expenses. it turned out we could spend 80.00 a week on food, but whenever i went shopping i would come home with some pretty decent shit and only spent like 50.00. that extra 30 always went to gas and or beer/ bud.

after i was laid off we started eating a lot of fast food but realized real quick we were spending more at mickey d's then at HEB so we made a stupid bet one day and it went a little something like this. we had about 20.00 to spend on food and we were going back and forth on what we should buy so i gave her 10.00 and told her to get whatever she wants, but whatever she buys i cant touch. same for her, she couldnt eat anything of mine. turns out my shit lasted me all week and all her shit was gone in a couple days. granted, her shit might have tasted a little better, but i at least i was still eating.

)im not fucked up, i shared all my shit with her. i just wanted to prove a point.)

i usually spend like 10-15 dollars a day on food but sometimes when i cut back on spending ill go to kroger and buy kroger brand bread (1 dollar) kroger crunchy peanut butter (1 dollar) and i have a freezer full of jam so thats lunches for a week right there. 1.33 bag of already cooked sausage patties from walmart goes well with a 12 pack of eggs for 1.89 which is breakfast for a week. and a 3 dollar bag of 10 frozen burritos is good for dinners along with 40 cent pot pies. Can never go wrong with ramen noodles and mac and cheese (Even if you have to cut out either milk or butter) I like to strain my ramen noodles and then add a little butter and the seasonings.

All this talking about food is making me hungry, i hope papa johns gets here soon :-P

in england? it's pretty cheap really. where i go out you can but shots and bottles of beer for £1. I know of another place that used to do shots for 50p.

I managed to finish a bottle of soco in a club once. that is about all i remember!

Or to a weatherspoons and get bottles of Kozel for £1.80 that shit fucks you up! i hear its infused with animal violence.

the bars CAN be cheap, but jack daniels at sainsbury's like 40 pounds !! but i used to go to lloyds bar n wetherspoons alot just to chill during the day.
