A few weeks ago I applied at Tyson foods to do work with their SAP team. I was up against some pretty stiff competition, most of whom were students in many of my classes, and I GOT THE JOB (internship technically)!
13$/hr, plus I get to work on SAP which is going to put me in the running for a position which can earn me $120+k per year. Most students at my school who got SAP jobs right off the bat were earning $100K as their starting salary. This definitely makes the past couple of rough weeks at school, and the past two years of hard ass work, all worth it.
Beers are definitely in order and if any of you fuckers lived near me, i'd invite you over to celebrate.

SAP is what's know as an enterprise resource program. Basically, an ERP is a very very complicated program that integrates all the functions within a business. This way the production system is tied in with the inventory system which is tied in with the finance system. It basically controls every aspect of the org from HR, to production, to financial reporting. It also makes your company compliant with the "new" sarbanes oxley rules which govern financial reporting and auditing.
SAP jobs are high in demand because there is little to no training available for it. I was lucky in the fact that my school is one of a handful (many of which get their teaching materials from us and use our IBM Z mainframe to host their instance of SAP) to offer classes in SAP. I've completed my minor in SAP (known as ERP minor) already and once i finish up SAP III i'll receive a certificate from SAP which says I'm officially certified to work on SAP systems. It's been a long long road, but goddamn, it's definitely paying out!

i havent decided yet, but im pretty sure i want to major in chemistry.
if not chemistry then sociology.
im just happy i got in a 4 year though with my ged. guess my scores were high enough
