Although I grew up outside the city, I never bothered with driving, I figure I can carpool/bus/train to school and around the city for my four years... and then when I move to Sweden (where their transportation systems are really well done), I can live out in the boonies and it won't matter because there will still be efficient public transpo. (Although I would want to live in the city.)
