I remember doing that math in "advanced functions" during grade 12...gawd I am glad I don't have to study math anymore.

I'm in electronics for a living and a life. Math is the key to all things in our existence. Still I hate the practice. Much props to Coaster for his skills in the subject. No wonder he needs so much drugs. Even with them I have trouble applying myself strict enough to accomplish the mathematical feats I desire to master. Otherwise I may could be the next Einstein but I cannot because I am me and who I am.

I give Coaster his props though. A drugged up mathemetition. :thumbup:  Gotta have quite a view.

or use a graphing calculator if you want to be lazy and look at the graph. what can y be is what you want to know.

yeah answer is right unless the formula you gave us is wrong.

if you meant for the whole exponent to be x+1 you need to put it in  ( ) like this: 5-2^(x+1) then the answer would be...

if you are finding the range you are really solving for what y could be.

so you can graph it and look at the graph. figure out what value y can be and what it can't be. like y can't be 7 in that problem.

one way to do this is just plug in numbers for x

make a chart like this

x    |  y
----------
-inf |
-10 |
0    |
10  |
inf  |

then solve for Y. you will want to use more numbers for x... but when you get the hang of it it will be easy. for infinity just substitute it for a very large number like 9999999.

i'm sure there's other ways (do you know how to find limits??) but it's been a long time since i finished calculus 1 and 2.

Im not sure, probably wont get my actual grade back until next week. I copied at least 4-5 answers out of 25 off the kid sitting next to me and he isnt even that smart.

Now I am locked out of my own fucking room for the next 3 1/2 hours, stuck at the library cruising the internet and about to work on some homework

actually we take our tests in groups of 4 from class and all help eachother. it was my idea

I have gotten B's on both exams so far. Im doing pretty well in the class
