...so I don't see myself smoking in my room this year. 
Blowing smoke out a first floor window just doesn't sound like a good idea to me. I guess I have to resort to walking around and puffing on J's.

I don't think anyone plans on getting caught.
And it is a risk.
With that said.
I'd recommend a cheapish vapo (~$80-120). Vapo doesn't smell danky like j's. More of a roasted scent than burning pot.
And you can use a sploof with it too.
Make sure your door is always locked when your smoking and towel the door.
Also have some AirEffects Febreeze shit.
Follow the above rules and I don't see you having any problems.

I had a buddy in college who had a dorm room to himself on the first floor. It was in the honors college too. Anyway, he smoked like a chimney in that place. It was a lot of fun. Personally, i thought he was crazy to risk getting kicked out, but to each his own. I also had a buddy that lived in on the top floor (8th floor) in the corner of the building. It was probably the best dorm room on ASU's sprawling campus. Anyway, i tripped up there a lot and smoked a lot of pot there too. it was nice to just open the window and blow it out there. College was fun.

dood i had my 6 foot bong and a gravity bong in my dorm
ya i was kicked out but it took them a while to do it
i was blazin everyday
if ur stoner status diminishes ur lizame
but i no ur not so im not worried
