(1) An Illinois resident 21 years of age or older who is a registered qualifying patient under
the Compassionate Use of Medical Cannabis Program Act may cultivate cannabis plants, with a
limit of 5 plants that are more than 5 inches tall, per household.

That being said, I give to you, my first cannabis cultivation attempt.
AFGHAN KUSH
Ordered 8 Afghan Kush seeds from (DEFINITELY NOT A SPONSOR).
Order came with 4 free G13 seeds.(NEXT RIP, COUNT PLANT REMEMBER, DUH!)
Medium:
3 parts coco, hydrated with boiling water, rinsed, strained, and buffered for 12 hours twice in Cal-Mag.
2 parts perlite
1 part fine verm
1 part worm castings
Light:
2 Spider Farmer SF-2000 LED Quantum Boards.
Environment:
I am growing in a 6'x4' area in my basement that I have walled and doored off.
In the winter I use a whole house humidifier that I got from a thrift store for $5 and an oil heater that I got on craigslist for $15.
In the summer I have an in room upright 8000 BTU beast that also functions as a dehumidifier, which I collect the water from and water the plants with after filtering and PH balancing.
I am using Down To Earth dry amendments for nutrients, which the microbes in the worm castings will break down into a plant available form.
For veg I am using their 4-4-4 mix and for flower I will be using their alfalfa meal and seabird guano.
I plan on scrogging them, at some point. Hence the net in the background.
I am using a combination of different training techniques, including topping, low stress training, supercropping, and mainlining.
Well, enough with the bullshit....here we go!

Flower Day 40: Found seeds on some, but not all!
      
Flower Day 49: End of week 7
       
Flower Day 53: Trichomes are 10% ish amber. 2 Days of darkness then harvest and hang to dry. Will post after trim pics and final weight in a couple weeks.
           
FINAL YEILD : 13.5oz flower 2g dry sift hash

Very weird honestly, being a first time grower and all.
The room smells like good fuckin weed, which is different than how the bud smells up close.
Which is also different that what my fingers smell like after squeezing them a bit.
It all smells fabulous but if I had to put a word on it, fruity i guess, which seems weird to me because it's kush, but when i used to smoke kush back in the day it smelled way different.
Maybe the cure will be the cure, lol.

It will lol its crazy how the smells change. The one I have that now smells like green line og, I swear to God, smelled like tomatoes from about a foot away but when I touched it it smelled complex and amazing lol
Edit: another thing I've learned is that the "iconic" smells are just really good phenotypes. Our weed grown from seed could have a million different combos of smells and tastes lol

Well, the smell of dead grass/hay is pretty much gone, no kush smell yet but still burping and waiting. Not sure how to describe the smell, but it's not bad at all.
I have read that some people wait until it has been curing for 2 weeks before they dip into it, some say 30 days, some people say some cultivars don't properly cure until jarred for 6 months...just waiting, burping, and smelling.
I did take a bud and grind it up and smoke it with my guy yesterday for my birthday. It was smooth, and had an ok taste, but it's not there yet.
I'm sure it will be fine in a few weeks...we shall see. I really like this whole process.
Just started 2 G13, 2 more Afghan Kush, and my guy gave me a Purple kush seed, so we have the lineup for the next run already.

That's awesome. You can smoke them whenever you want as they are yours lol. Mine have finally gotten their signature smells. They are quite nice

Edit: I also judge how much chlorophyll they have left to break down by how fast it discolors my bong water. Imo mine might have a week or 2 left to full flavor but all the grass smell has been gone for a min now and I just started getting the nice smells about a week ago

Happy to report that I now have kush. Took a minute, but the magic(science) has happened and I have my kush smell and taste. I can tell it's just gonna get better as it sits in the jars curing.
So happy with the finished product. Rolled a joint the size of a huge blunt. Never done that before...never had a personal stash this big before.
I hope they legalize or at least decriminalize or reclassify psychedelics soon. I miss my PE.

Really admire your patience man I always struggled with trying to do stuff with my uncured and by the time it was at a good place my tolerance would be high and I'd have hardly any left. I hate taxes too, I just want to grow my own. I was killin the game with mushrooms about 10 years ago, check me out on the shroomery. Royally fucked up and had to stop growing. Now waiting on the law to change.
Mushroom cultivation takes a lot less patience than this, but I feel it was a good warm up.

Interesting, I won't pry but I am curious because I don't know anyone that grows mushrooms legally!
I was other way around haha I got into mushrooms after my first few harvests, went a really long time using a shitty pressure cooker not realizing it wasn't reaching the correct PSI. Miraculously still managed to have successful agars, harvests and spore samples
btw if you or someone you know wants to share some novelty bird seeds strictly for collectors purposes let me know!  maybe could trade some different novelty bird seeds or something

Oh yeah when I was younger on my very first cure ever I was too anxious and put them in the jars while they were still too moist and some of them molded 
I'm happy for you man, I'm trying some dispo seed g purps but they aren't doing so well  if they don't start growing soon I'm gonna pop some different beans.
