Oh, humble foliage
You’ve been with man since his dawn
To help him ease to sleep
To throw him into the deep
Oceans of his mind,
Which and rock
The complex nets of energy
Firing off in different patterns
Kissing my stomach
Licking my mind
Who is that I see behind?
We’ve evolved together
And seduced each other
Into different ways of life
Ways of love,
Waves of love,
Ways of thought,
Waves of thought
In these bright green waters
The Indians swim and braid their hair
Into dreadlocks
As Shiva dances above
Indeed you are a miracle
Though I know there is no such thing
You are made of the same stuff as me
And do something similar
In a similar way
And that simple fact
Created a universe
Of love between me and you
