They use different varieties. The grapes you buy for eating aren't the same as the ones they use to make juice, generally.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I usually buy them when they're a little green so I have a few days' cushion.
I have a couple good ways to eat bananas. Either Frosted Flakes with motherfuckin bananas in them, or Banana milkshake. Vanilla ice cream, bananas, milk, and a little bit of vanilla extract in a blender. That shit is really good once in a while.
edit- that milkshake is best when the bananas are just a tad under ripe to me, doesn't taste as good when they're over ripe
