no this is NOT another movie recommendation thread.

This is a place to talk about recently viewed movies good or bad

I watch a lot of movies (at least one a week) but very few are new and hot
most are not good enough to rave about and recommend endlessly but most ARE good enough to watch some rainy evening.

So if you've watched any movies lately tell us about them.

Saw The Expendables and it fucking blew my mind, if you haven't seen it you need to.

The other guys was pretty good, if your looking for a movie with lots of explosions and cheap laughs then you'll love it.

Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2

initially I avoided this movie after hearing almost unanimous negative reviews
but it's that time of year so I've been searching out some scary movies

Now I'm a big Blair Witch Project fan so I'm not sure what I was expecting
Obviously they couldn't pull the same stunt and expect it to have the same impact.
Which is why I'm glad that the very first thing they did was expose the truth behind the reality of the first movie.
After owning up to the fact that the BWP was just a movie we follow a group of kids on a tour of the movie location, that is until something happens to their film footage.

I felt the characters were a bit stereotypical at times but can be forgiven considering Hollywood's small selection of teen-aged outcasts

The music may be my favorite part of this movie.
From the time the opening credits start in sync with Merlyn Manson's "Disposable Teens" you get a good idea of how loud to set your volume

The other great thing about this movie is the fan service it offers. There are hidden "stick men" everywhere as well as a few other surprises to reward the observant but it doesn't stop there the are horror movie homages from start to finish.

I'd give it a 6/10
worth watching but probably only once

Paranormal Activity
A fairly new movie...

When it came out I laughed at the way they hyped it up
showing clips of people in the audience screaming in terror

After some friends recommending it I decided to give it a go....
and was predictably disappointed.

Coming from someone who actually believes in ghosts, I didn't believe this movie for a second.
Which was a shame because I thought they went about this movie in the right way.

4/10
I wouldn't go out of my way to watch this movie
but I wouldn't avoid it all together either but there are far better things to waste your time on

I think y'all need to look up the definition for pedophile.

The Wizard of Gore (2007)

I never herd of this movie and it turns out it was a remake of a movie from 1970... never herd of that one either
But it promises gore, Crispin Glover, and the Suicide Girls so I gave it a shot

To be honest I didn't know what to expect going in.
With gore in the title I expected (and received) buckets of blood but then the story started kicking in.

My jaw is on the floor after watching but I really don't know how to explain this movie.
Story wise I'd rank it with movies like "Waking Life" or "A Scanner Darkly" the plot is keeps you guessing, is thought provoking, and just might be drug induced.

7/10

Fuck yes. Prolly the best action movie I've ever seen. I saw it in the theater (mind you, I usually hate going to the theater) and I really wanted to PAY to see it again. Coming from someone who hasn't paid to see a movie since Pineapple Express.

I was literally cheering during some of the more awesome parts haha.

Watch out. It'll get  ya all jacked up and wanting to break shit and do stunts. Or, at least it did for me.

So I watched shrooms last night

I first heard about it over on the shroomery where it got mostly bad reviews but curiosity got the better of me and I decided it was about time I watched it for myself.

Lets start with the positives, the cinematography was beautiful. The camera angles, the establishing shots, the scenery but unfortunately the consent blue/green wash ruined it.

There was NO character development aside from the few clues that gave away the predictable story line.

Entering into a movie about shrooms I was expecting a lot of misinformation and was really surprised when the first talk about the mushrooms was how safe they were. Unfortunately it didn't last long though to be fair the "Magic Mushrooms" weren't at fault but rather the dreaded "Deaths Head Shroom" but it still fuels the anti drug propaganda.

There was very little in the way of a story and it felt as if I was trying to watch 3 movies at once. There are several stories being told and they have very little to do with each other, it's clear the director did not have a clear vision going into this.

I'd give this a
3/10
which is a shame because there is a lot of potential for at least two good movies here

that is right about where they stop talking about shrooms
for a movie about shrooms the are very few trippy visuals and only 1 hallucination (that one)

Before starting a new movie thread, I figured I'd revive this one.

Out of a handful of people that I went with to see Inception, a friend and I went to see it stoned. Us two out of about eight people were the only ones to understand the plot through and through. Everyone else was confused as shit. :awehigh:

Paranormal Activity 2 is still in question to even see while sober. The first one shook me up and I don't ever get scared by movies --  but a sequel to a not-that-great movie might not be worth my money.

Quentin Tarantino movies are the best when baked, or sober. That said, I'll be baked on Nov 11 watching Machete.

Glad I have Zombieland and Cheech & Chong on demand with Netflix.

Theres a lot of onothing happening in this one too but it does build up. Theres at least one scene in this that is pretty crazy.  Whether or not to see it depends on how much you enjoy this kinda movie. I def had fun seeing it high with friends but i wouldnt say its amazing ether.  But it was also an interesting movie to see in the theatres. It has a different effect as opposed to watching it at home but it also cost 10 bucks :stoned:

I just finished watching
VAMPIRE GIRL VS FRANKENSTEIN GIRL

Now I'm not sure if anyone is familiar with "Tokyo Gore Police" or "The One-Armed Machine Girl" but this is another movie from the people who gave us those gems and it fallows the theme well.

The Japanese have an odd culture and that is probably the biggest downside of this movie. If you are at all turned off by their humor or are off put by their cultural differences you should definitely look elsewhere but despite the fact that I watched the entire movie without subtitles I was able to keep up with the story line. Perhaps that doesn't speak highly for the story which was a little cliche but the story is not the reason to watch this movie in the first place.

There is blood by the buckets rivers but this movie tries much harder to be a comedy. It's zany, campy, brightly lit and border line racist at times but that is exactly the type of thing these types of movies are expected to deliver.

if your the type of person who can sit through bad grind-house and pulp films and enjoy the campy off the wall humor this is probably a movie to check out.

6/10 maybe 7/10 if I had subtitles

if anyone is interested
entire movie is on youtube but torrent download was extremely fast

Oh and I saw jackass 3-d not too long ago and it was hilarious, much better than I expected. I didn't think It'd be to good since the second one kind of sucked imo

I think it's time for a Halloween Quentin Tarantino party. Light up some bowls and watch some Grindhouse.
