^exactly! Those people aren't there for the music. In my experience (albeit mostly (15) tool shows) the moshers have all been asshole meatheads who want to start something. There's a complex dynamic at a lot of these shows. the women who stand right on the edge of the mosh pit to show they can handle it, or the girls that participate just cause their a bit crazy and drunk. now, i do really like to feel the energy of the shows but it's becoming harder and harder to have that kind of pre-cell phone energy. Everyone's holding up their camera to get a shot of the band. Then the security people jump out of nowhere and kick you out for using a cell phone. That shit really puts a damper on the energy of the music. my first tool show was in 02. I dont remember any mosh pits but I do remember the electric, put your hair on end, energy in the place. never experienced that again. Going to three A Perfect Circle shows in a few weeks in phoenix. I'm really looking forward to that. i would be uber-surprised if there were any mosh pits there. im also still waiting to hear more about this deftones show!?

^that's not a bad cover. Not something I would think the deftones would do. But they are a pretty rad band.
the deftones played in honolulu the day after I left there. Had we known that going into it a lot of us would have stayed to see the show. now ive been all upset about that for a week.

I realized something today! It was a moment of sheer delight! The deftones did NOT play the day after i left. They played a month and a day after i left, 2/18. So i feel a bit better now.
AND
I bought a 'black package' ticket to see them on the last show of the tour on 06/13/11 in san fran. PLUS! I am about 80-90% sure im going to both shows in denver in april too.
all that hard work i put into school and getting a job are paying off!!!! it's good to be employed and single with no kids. that's a fucking fact!
that black package includes the following, it was $70:
One (1) Concert Ticket One (1) Sound check Performance One (1) Limited Edition Lithograph One (1) Souvenir Laminate One (1) Deftones Signature Guitar Pick Tin Front of line entry*
this is the diamond package, it was 150$....
One (1) Concert Ticket One (1) Meet and Greet with Deftones One (1) Individual Photo with Deftones One (1) Autographed Set list One (1) Sound check Performance One (1) Autographed Limited Edition Lithograph One (1) Souvenir Laminate One (1) Deftones Signature Guitar Pick Tin Crowd free, pre-show merch shopping* Pre-show entry*
I think it's pretty fucking awesome that the band does this kind of stuff. im really looking forward to ggoing to the soundcheck. my buddy got the diamond package. should be a fun trip.

Whoa! I can't believe i had a ticket to this show four months in advance. The show was pretty cool. Highlight was probably going to the soundcheck. That was really cool to see. They played 2 songs during the soundcheck. Both were old recognizable songs. Change and something else i can't name. During the show my friends and I stayed in the pit and got thrashed around a ton. I was right next to the fucking right stack and when chino came over jumping on them i was close enough to give him a fist bump. that was cool too. he's got to expend like 2,000 calories at least at one of those shows. They also played last night right down the street from me. Oh well, next show....buckethead in san fran!
