Just passing along this shout out from the Michigan Medical Marijuana Association, hoping that more will pass the word along or even attend. From their website...
"Sept 8 11:00am Oakland County Courthouse. Bring your signs and all the people you can gather. There will be no more persecution of patients. No one under any circumstances has the right to put their hands on a patient. We demand the immediate return of all patient protected records. We demand an apology from Sheriff Barney from Oakland County for practicing medicine without a license. We demand he cease and desist in his harassment of medical marijuana patients and caregivers. Immediate response and capitulation will stop the demonstration. Nothing more, Nothing less."
Things just took an even bigger step as one of the patients that they siezed the medical marijuana from and arrested (late last week) died today before his prelim hearing. So I am asking any that can make it out to do so, as only through numbers can we force government to recognize the will of "We the people..."

We do have medical marijuana here in Michigan now, the problem is there are still over zealous cops and prosecutors fighting it every step of the way. It is a pretty strongly worded law as well, with protections for patients and caregivers, yet these cops, prosecutors, and in some cases judges are just ignoring the law.
One excerpt from our law "Sec. 4. (a) A qualifying patient who has been issued and possesses a registry identification card shall not be subject to arrest, prosecution, or penalty in any manner, or denied any right or privilege, including but not limited to civil penalty or disciplinary action by a business or occupational or professional licensing board or bureau, for the medical use of marihuana in accordance with this act,"
Here is a little more info on the patient that passed away yesterday..Quote:
Sal Agro, the Lake Orion man who spoke out about police last week after an Aug. 25 medical marijuana raid at him home, died Thursday.
His death was caused by a heart attack, family members said. He had recently had hip surgery. He was 67.
After the raids, Agro, a retired GM worker and beloved Lake Orion sports coach, walked through areas of his home to show where police had torn apart beds and clothing, looking for marijuana, he said.
Several marijuana plants he had been growing in a basement bedroom had been torn out and confiscated by police.
“They had ski masks on and acted like the Gestapo,” he had said.
The raids by the county came 1 day after the city gave his family the okay to reopen the doors to their dispensary (after a brief moratorium to figure out zoning), the mayor and several other city officials had inspected and even used this dispensary as an example of how to setup and run one in accordance with state and local laws.
The worst part of all of this (not that causing a heart attack isn't bad) is that these county cops have siezed patient and caregiver records, and now have a database to go after more folks. All of this information is supposed to be safe from seizure by anybody in the state, under the Michigan Medical Marihuana Act and under HIPPA.
I am asking anybody that can show up to be there for this protest and help let these voices be heard.
