Quote: DRAGON said: Wow that's interesting though most of the people I've met over the years that are into fighters. Usually don't have MK as their favorite. I like MK but I could never take it as serious as the other major fighters out there like Soul Calibur, Tekken, Virtua Fighter, Street Fighter and so on. The fatalities were always so nice and I got into the storyline for a few of the characters. But the fighting game mechanics always seemed to me to lack a bit of the complexity that the other fighters bring.
I gotta add, you must have played Guilty Gear to have that pic of Miss badass Baiken in your signature.
I got into MK as a kid when complexity wasn't important MK is certainly not as complex on the surface but if you scratch a little you can really go deep.
I liked the fact that you weren't just hammering in cookie cutter combos and each character was unique but still similar enough to switch back and forth. everyone had a fireball but one would freeze you while another was best used for anti air and yet another could be easily ducked. Most character were well balanced and you didn't wind up with infinites *cough*MvC2*cough*
And yeah I dig the GG series but it never got enough attention and died off before it got really in depth (story wise) I'm hoping all the attention BlazBlue is getting will be enough to give Arc Systems a fighting game with a good strong following among a large fan base
Yeah one great thing about MK that I always loved was that you couldn't button smash your way through the game. Unlike others like *cough*MvC2*cough* I have a lot of great memories playing Deadly Alliance with friends. Poor GG though, I didn't really get that into it cause I never had anyone to play against. I mean you can only play so much against the computer before you get bored but Chipp Zanuff FTW! A shame they never made it into a full blown anime series either but oh well. Yeah I've heard good things about BlazBlue. Still have yet to play it though.
What do you think of the DOA series? Gotta love the drunken master

Chipp was my goto guy aswell but almost everyone had their charms
I've never played a DOA game (besides volleyball) I was never a supporter of Dreamcast or XBox but it looked...um... bouncy
so far I'm loving BlazBlue and I've only been playing the tutorials with only 3 attack buttons and a "do something cool" button anyone can pick it up with ease but the complexity of the cancel, dash, and guard system will ensure a nice steady learning curve to keep even the most hardcore fighter engaged. The characters are very reminiscent of GG but being 2nd gen a few don't feel nearly as unique (though compared to the standard shoto they're completely off the wall)
Hwoarang is tight but I never used him much he was a friends character of choice so I'd tend to shy away from him in favor of the other characters like Bryan Fury or Asuka
