Although, somehow Mississippi has it decriminalized to a certain degree.

What brought this question on was, the guy who bought my screen printing business when I got divorced, just fired a kid yesterday for being a general twit.  He was consistently coming in late, or not at all, and would get so blazed when he was running jobs at night that he would fuck stuff up, burn shirts in the dryer, and get like 1/2 of what Brandon wanted him to get done, which was already like 1/2 as much as an average business would expect from an employee.

Basically this kid just lost a sweet ass $14 an hour job because he was given an inch and took a mile. So anyway my friend says "What the fuck is with stoners today? I mean, I like to party and all, but DAMN."

Brandon didn't want to work the kid to death like most screenprinters try to do - he didn't have set hours, he just had to show the fuck up when he said he would, so Brandon could set some sort of a schedule and have a reasonable idea of when to tell customers to get their shit.  He'd be like "What time are you gonna come in tomorrow?" and if the kid said 9 am or 9 pm either way was fine with Brandon.... but the little fucker would say "uh noon" and not get there till 4pm.

If Brandon wasn't a stoner too, and had to form an opinion about weed from this kid's actions, what do you think his opinion of it would be?

Stoner: you are an ambassador to the world, and I think that if you go out of your way to let people know you smoke weed, you should also go out of your way to live down the stereotypes about smokers.

While responsible users who are otherwise law abiding citizens and productive members of society or pursuing degrees in professional fields can be found nearly everywhere across the nation right now, we will not be able to shed the "stoner" stereotype completely, simply because an estimated 15% of our nation's population meet standard diagnostic criteria for at least one personality disorder.

This matters because the majority of these sufferers of personality disorders often attempt to self medicate; Sometimes with alcohol or opiates but, often marijuana.

Perhaps what the store owner saw in that kid were the behaviors exhibited by someone with a pre-existing, perhaps undiagnosed personality disorder. Also, more than likely in this individuals case, it sounds like cannabis use may be prohibiting him in recovery or treatment of any possible disorders.

Until the uninformed American public can wrap their minds around that, then we'll always just seem like "lazy stoners" to them.
