I think the reason it cannot be smoked is because Psilocybin breaks apart and deactivates at high levels of heat, which is needed when smoking. I could be wrong, so don't quote me.

Yup, psilocybin cannot be smoked for effect.

Psilocin can be smoked for effect, but not by smoking mushrooms.  Unless You can smoke a couple grams in a couple hits, maybe.
