Buying a "new" truck. Tires?
    #842225 - 01/14/20 10:22 AM (4 years, 2 months ago)

The car just doesn't hold up as well in Maine, I tell ya' hwhat. I have two cars and decided to sell one. I'll keep one for the summer, but driving these bitches in the winter just doesn't feel right up here.

I need a 4x4 with studs and chains that can be put on or off. That is where it's at. Once I get my rig, I will be able to travel directly to my land without any walking, which will make my frontier adventures much more accessible.

The truck I get won't really be a choice, but a selection from price range -- but the tires will eventually be a choice.

What are some good tires? Snow tires with studs? I want some fucking tires that will get me through high snow and ice. Maybe even a foot of powdered snow that is not plowed.

Can never go wrong with BFGoodrich all terrains or mudders. Im running Mickey Thompsons deegan 38 A/T and they're okay. I prefer BFG. Have heard good things about General Grabbers and also Nitto A/T.

I've heard people talk about "blizzican" tires for snow tires

I don't see how you could put them on without a shop unless they already had rims on them

I wanted to buy a truck
but the area is so flat and once you took it offroad the paint would get super messed up

if i did have a truck it'd be cool to have because then i could buy a dirt bike and pick it up whenever it breaks down

but im going to go with this impala with a v6, it'll have 300hp
if it isn't a complete peice of shit I'll have it until they start building electric cars hopefully

Don't listen to these guys. I use to live up in Washington state for a bit and those Winters can get pretty brutal.

Trust me when I say... Douglas all season tires.

Yea. Elon Musk came out with that electric truck. Electric is cool, but I don't think it really helps with pollution. We burn coal for energy and all those parts being manufactures takes power. And steel production includes burning coal.

But yea, fucking A. That will be nice being able to throw an ATV in the back. I want to pick up a trailer and then go buy an antique tractor for 2,000 bucks.

You dirtbike?

I’m curious to see how battery waste etc plays out.  Plus accidents and things like “contained” accidents becoming explosions when they pull the car up on the flatbed and something shorts out the batteries.
