Magic into greed
    #840568 - 12/21/19 05:30 AM (4 years, 3 months ago)

For those of you with little ones or plan on having little ones in the future, listen up..

I'll make this quick cause a nigga is trying to get down on some PS4 before the little nightmares awaken.

When kids are young, the holidays are Soo much fun. Those days are filled with magic and wonder to the point of shitting glitter out of every hole. It's tons of fun. Kinda like data's quarter ton wife.

However, all good things must come to an end.

My kids no longer believe, but are pretending to believe just so they can snag that extra gift from Santa, or land some cash money under their pillow from that sexy ass Mexican tooth fairy.

It honestly sucks once that magic is gone.

Don't get me wrong. We still have our fun, and visit with family, and eat some good food, but with no magic... Christmas is on the same level as Thanksgiving accept you're spending a hell of a lot more money.

So... Cherish the time with your little ones and hold on to that magic as long as you can. Before you know it those little ones are grown little ass holes walking around like they own the fucking world and know what's up.

Bitch, I'll smack the fuck out of you! What!? Come here you little mother fucker! Guess what!? Santa isn't real! Faggot fuck. Look whose big now. Crybaby ass muphucka.

Sorry, bud. Hate to break it to ya, but he's not. Just like your father. He wasn't real either. It was your mom all along.

Are you or your special lady christian, or just celebrate because it's a fun holiday or because family demands it?

Pretty sure I'm the only non-christian in my family since my grandpa kicked the bucket 15 years ago. I pretty much celebrate because my family does. If it were up to me, I would just decorate (because I like the excuse to put up hippie-looking string lights without being judged) and chill with the family without all the Santa or gift-giving bullshit. That part of the celebration has been twisted into the primary focus by our society, and as a grumpy old non-christian fart, I hate that.:grizzlybear:

It was more of a "he said she said" kinda thing.

The "she" being Jesus, "he" being the various authors of different books in the new testament...written several decades to half a century after she died, and then arbitrarily chosen to become the canon texts from a slew of other different/contradictory accounts of her words some 2 centuries later.

But yea, I grew up in a Christian family, I've read it all and sat through Sunday school and sermons, then later catachism classes and "camp meeting" community revivals for some chick I was dating. I was always iffy about the whole thing, and became much more sure that christianity was not for me about the time I was in middle school.

You don't have to.

I don't think our household is doing presents this year.

But we are Christian and we decorated.

Instead, I will praise Jesus and drink BEER.

How the lord intended.

I don't come from a Christan family nor is this house a Christan household.

We strictly celebrated for the commercial and magical points of Christmas.

Honestly, this Christmas has felt more like a pointless waste of money holiday just like valentines day.

We are wasting 100s of dollars while stressing out and hanging out with family we normally don't visit all for the sake of Christmas.

Don't get me wrong... I enjoy decorating, I enjoy buying gifts for my kids and wife and then sitting down with them and enjoying those gifts together, but I can def do without.

I do miss when they were younger.

So.... If and when you have kids, enjoy it. You only really get about 6 years out of it and it goes by so quick.

3 is when they are really aware and 9ish is when they start to question and come to that realization.

I feel you.

I think my favorite part is passing along ornaments from year to year, decade to decade, parents to children.

I have so many memories just through the ornaments -- and of course decorating the tree is a process of joy and fun.

I am the man of the house now. So it comes down to how I want to dish it out. I pattern my father.

Love the music too. I'm dreaming of a white Christmas.

Yea I kinda forced the dematerialization of christmas this year. My wife and I made most of our presents.

I've been dicking around with turning normally wasted material into useful shit. We save our bacon grease and store it in the freezer, then do a series of brine-to-distilled water hot washes of it to clean out the preservatives and de-stink it. Then I make all sorts of cold-process soaps with it. Lard/Tallow actually makes some really nice soap, and you can add in some coconut oil for extra lather and olive oil to keep it from drying your skin out too much.

I've also repurposed my parent's leftover beeswax from their honey harvests into fancy candles. My wife made some crocheted ornaments that turned out really nice. We put all that into some nice tins with some of my homemade cheese that I've been messing around with. Its mostly variations on farm cheese, but with the right fat content and spices it can be pretty fucking delicious with salami and crackers.

My wife and I are discussing the possibility of starting a family after I defend my thesis. I'll definitely start thinking about beefing up the decorations and magical stuff in the coming years

I too turn my wife's old panties into lard and then make candles out of it.

You never gained even a tidbit of positive direction or just ‘in general’ good advice from what Jesus was quoted as saying?  Not even a hint?  Not even a weeeee smidgen?

I just spent the last 3 hours arguing with my chick and dropping a little over 500.00 in gifts.

So much fun

I even accidently bumped this dudes mirror with my Target basket. It wasn't hard and there was no damage. No dents and no paint scrapes.

He jumped out of the car and was all,

Hey man! You hit my car!

I said, I didn't hit your car and there's no fucking damage, but I'm sorry. I thought I could clear it...

He didn't say shit so I walked to my car and loaded all my shit while keeping an eye on this fuck.

I see him inspecting the mirror up and down which is fine. I would have done the same shit.

He ended up getting back into his car because there was no damage.

Motha fucka! I don't fuck around nor do I have time. If you feel like I fucked something up then do something or call the fucking cops.

Bitch.
