Before using a vermiculite and perlite mix to clone, should i pasteurize my verm? Its being stored in an unsealed bag in the gatage and it gets very hot and humid here. Ive had the bag for over year now and im scared its not clean enough for cloning Does anyone regularly pasteurize thier cloning mediums?
Vermiculite is a type of mineral and hasn't any food for molds but if you want to be sure there are couple of options.
You can add a fungicide or buy rooting powder with a fungicide in it.
Vermiculite should not be pasteurized but you can sterilize it in your oven.

Note if your vermiculite is wet you will have to dry it first this can also be done in the oven. Once dry its 350 for two hours.
Thanks a lot! That sounds easy so ill def do that if i stay worried about it. Ill also be looking out for fungicide root starter. That stuff can get pretty fuzzy sometimes. Crossing my fingers these clones stay nice and fresh
