Is my soil any good?

I have 3, 7 gal pots filled with dirt that have been sitting in my mud room for like 3-4 months. I used them to start some plants that ended up male. And just never had a place to put the dirt. Problem is my dog also stays in this area and he sheds a lot. There’s dog hair all over the top layer of soil in all the pots. I’m wondering if it would be a bad idea to get rid of as much of it as I can maybe throwing out the top layer of soil and re using the rest for my next project. I’m thinking it could be a problem since the dog is in and out if the house and who knows what’s on his hair and god knows I probably won’t get every little hair out of the soil. What do you think?

Get a grow tent, and replace the unknown quality soil by coco coir. You will have to buy nutrients, but the roots will grow stronger.

Already have a grow tent.
Not really a fan of having to buy nutrients I’m pretty happy with soil and the few things I add to it.
I could just go buy more soil but I hate to throw out soil that’s never even seen a full grow.

dog hair is ok in soil. people hair not so much because of chemicals we put in them. many clumps of dog hair get swept up on my soil. however i do not collect it intentionally.
