My friend was using 2 of these lights for an aquarium. He said they worked very good for his aquatic plants but the pink color was too ugly for him so he gave them both to me for free.
They are 12 watts each with 76 individual LEDs so I figure the LEDs are 1/8th of a watt each. I've read that 1 or 3 watt LEDs are what you need for growing.
They are a mix of red and blue LEDs
Since I got these free I would like to use them for supplemental lighting with a few CFLs for 1 or 2 plants. Would 2 of these be worth using at all or should I just throw them into the garbage?
some people are using the .3watt samsung diodes. It looks like its probably just a little bit of the tape/reel stuff you can buy cheap. Given the right diodes it can do wonders in large numbers. Otherwise just try it out and see what happens. More light equals more light.
